Today at work, I didn't feel like writing my paper on "How do "Dover Beach" and "The Second Coming" explore the cultural implications of a loss of faith or religion?" So I decided to just listen to music. There are a few golden nuggets that I found; here are they:
The new site is wonderful. It is a cinch to find a band or artist that is collected in the database. The player is pretty nice also, with the ability to skip the talking of All Songs Considered to the clips that they play. I listened to the latest one with The guy from the Go! Team as a guest dj. He played lots of music associated with movie soundtracks and such. Pretty wild; I would check it out. Currently listening to Animal Collective live in D. C.
I found this site while trying to find tour dates for Frog Eyes. This has tour dates and also, mp3's for some mighty artists. This doesn't have too much content, but it is all very helpful.
For some reason everything that gets said on this website, I agree strongly with. Especially how they prove pitchfork wrong with like every article. They have a mix every month(all downloadable) which are always a treat.
P. S. I suggest also Dublab.com's future roots music; and tinymixtapes' reviews
also, I am glad that I finally have a myspace again.

There is only shitty bands in Pocatello, I have decided. One of my favorites that are close(Salt Lake is 3 hrs away). Is an artist named Ben Kilborn, a friend of a friend. His band is Wuhu' Seai which means frozen dick in Uintah, a branch of Shoshoni tribe. His music, although is very Neutral Milk Hotel, it is a very good, unique play on that folk style. Here's his myspace: which has some info on shows in the Salt Lake Valley.
Props to Soup for the Hunt.
I went thrifting and music shopping, yesterday and picked up quite a find. The record store across the street from my apartment, Budget Tapes and Records, has been holding some gems in its always filled racks of used cds. Besides, I had ordered Red Medicine, but couldn't ever pay for it.
But the real diamond that I picked up was Hostage. It is a recording of a poetry reading by Bukowski from 1980 at a reading in Redondo Beach, California. I sat there in my green banana chair constantly rocking back and forth from the hilarity of it all. He is constantly picking fights with everyone, and it isn't like any poetry reading I have ever been to. People are constantly yelling lude comments to him, whistling, howling, and clapping. Even the jokes that he tells in between his poems(and there are a lot of them) are reminiscent of his poetry. He has a poetic put-down ability that he constantly uses against the audience. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys his poetry or fiction.
